Wrld Ctrl was founded by Philip Grisewood, who began the project during the covid lockdown in the winter of 2020. Experimenting with hand-dying at home, at a time when the whole world was confined and controlled.
What began as a creative outlet has grown into a distinct brand, offering hand-crafted pieces produced in limited quantities. By embracing slow fashion, he aims to create meaningful pieces that stand the test of time rather than contribute to fast fashion’s cycle of overproduction and waste.
Each item is infused with individuality, featuring colourful hand-dyed designs that celebrate diversity and self-expression. Bold graphic-led streetwear that draws inspiration from modern subcultures and the digital world.
Rooted in graphic communication and fashion, Philip brings a rich creative background to Wrld Ctrl. After earning a first-class BA in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts in London, he began his career illustrating for various publications. Philip then moved into fashion, creating graphic prints and textile designs for two independent lifestyle brands - Buddhist Punk and Horace - both produced in Bali, Indonesia. While working in Indonesia, Philip collaborated with family-owned factories, immersing himself in traditional dyeing techniques like batik and ikat and overseeing intricate screen-printing processes.
Philip’s designs have been worn by Skin (Skunk Anansie), Charli XCX, Maya J Coles, Jessie J, Peggy Gou and Noel Fielding, to name just a few.
